Marathon Man

On Monday, April 20th – what Massachusetts fondly refers to as Patriot’s Day – Winter Street’s Co-founder Mark Meche ran the Boston Marathon in 4 hours 13 mins! Running in honor of his son, Alexander and the MGH doctors at Cancer Care for Children, Mark was able to raise over $10,000 to be used for research and treatment of childhood cancer. Mark’s training peaked about three weeks before the race, when he joined the MGH team on the race course for the traditional 20 mile run from Hopkinton to Dr. Weinstein’s house at mile 20, right at the foot of heartbreak hill. The very next day he started some more business travel that allowed him to run in places like Sydney harbor and Central Park New York. His international training took him around the world and back again, check out his training blog for more info on Mark’s trips! We at Winter Street are happy to celebrate Mark’s success and our “Marathon Man” will also be joining the Winter Street team at the Architecture for Humanity 5K on May 10th, 2009. Congrats again, Mark!

If you have not given yet and want to, it’s not too late and if you can think of anyone else who might be willing, please feel free to pass the message along. Anyone can contribute through or or you can mail a check to Mark’s attention, made out to Mass General Hospital.
